Terms and Conditions: Upon registration, your credit card will billed a non-refundable $3.95 processing fee, which will also buy you one month of service to try us out. If U decide to continue with the service after the 30 day trial period your credit card will be billed automatically. Thereafter, the WhenUShop membership fee is approximately $1.99 per month, billed annually in advance for a total of $23.95. If U choose to cancel your membership, U must fill out a membership cancellation form - available here or at the Help page at www.whenushop.com. The membership fee will be automatically charged on a recurring annual basis at our then current rate, unless U cancel membership. Only one 30 day trial offer is available per membership. Only one unique user per account is allowed. WhenU.com will have the sole discretion to reject or terminate memberships.

Will WhenUShop work on my computer?

WhenUShop will work on most computers that run Windows 95, 98, NT, 2000 or XP, and with any AOL, Internet Explorer or Netscape browser version 4.0 or higher. If U are using a Windows system purchased within the last several years, and have the latest version of your browser, WhenUShop should work with your computer. (Sorry, WhenUShop does not currently have a non-Windows version.)

When the installation is done, U will see the WhenUShop toolbar pop up on the left side of your screen. U should also see WhenUShop's burgundy and gold "U" icon at the bottom right of your screen, near the clock.

What do I have to do to see WhenUShop working?

Once U install WhenUShop on your computer, your work is complete! WhenUShop will launch itself automatically and appear on the left side of your browser whenU surf to a retail shopping site covered by WhenUShop. Occasionally, U may be prompted to enter your login e-mail and password. Upon doing so, your toolbar should appear. It will provide U with lots of helpful information that saves U time and money. It will disappear from your screen whenU surf to a site that WhenUShop does not cover.

Just move your mouse over one of the topic buttons in the "Site Info" area of WhenUShop to see a summary of key points about that topic in the InfoWindow. To see a full explanation of the topic, click the button. When you're done learning about the topic, use the WhenUShop back button to return to the main screen.

It's easy! First, choose a category from the "Find a site that sells..." list, then check off the specific offers you're interested in--free shipping, coupons and/or no sales tax in a certain state--then click GO. WhenUShop gives U a list of all covered sites that fit your criteria, with links to take U directly to the site of your choice.

U can shrink WhenUShop down to a narrow strip at the left edge of your main browser window by clicking the X at the top right corner of WhenUShop. The strip will appear whenever WhenUShop has information about the site U are visiting. If U want to see the information, just click anywhere on the strip, and WhenUShop will pop up.

To see a list of every site covered by WhenUShop, select "All" in the "Category" drop- down list at the top of WhenUShop, then click on "Sites covered by WhenU."

First, select the type of merchandise U are shopping for, using the "Category" list. Then, select a site from the "Sites covered by WhenU" list.

WhenU select a site from the "Sites covered by WhenU" list, U can see WhenUShop information for that site without actually going there in your main browser. That means U can compare things such as shipping costs, return policies, tax information, coupons, etc. quickly and easily.

If U want to actually visit the site after seeing the WhenUShop information, click on the site name at the top of WhenUShop and your main browser will be taken there.

Click on the WhenUShop icon at the top left of the WhenUShop window, and select "Options...". U can also access your Options by clicking on the WhenUShop tray icon at the bottom right of your screen. Using the drop-down menu, select your state (or the state U will most often be sending orders to). Most sites, if they apply sales tax at all, apply it only when the "ship to" address is in a taxed state.

Even if U are sending an order to a state other than the one U have chosen, U can always see the full sales tax chart by clicking the "Tax" button.

How do I get new versions of WhenUShop?

U don't need to do anything--WhenUShop will be updated automatically on a periodic basis. WhenUShop will alert U when it is ready to be updated and all U need to do is click OK. The update takes just a few moments.

Since WhenUShop is self-updating, U should always have the most current version--as long as U click OK when WhenUShop tells U it is ready to update. U can find your version number by clicking on the WhenUShop icon at the top left of the WhenUShop window. If U are unsure whether your version is current, please e-mail techsupport@whenu.com with your version number and we will tell U.

How do I uninstall WhenUShop?

To uninstall the software, click on the Windows Start button (usually at the lower left of your screen). Go to Start (usually in the lower left-hand corner of your screen), then Settings-->Control Panel--->Add/Remove programs, scroll to "WhenUShop" and click on "OK." Follow the prompts until the uninstall is complete. If U cannot uninstall using this method, please e-mail techsupport@whenu.com.

How can I see a quick summary of key info about a site?

The Site Info Phone Pad

Each of the buttons in the pad deals with a specific topic: contact, coupons, shipping, returns, etc. Move your cursor over the buttons. The text in the Info Window changes as U move from button to button.

Sometimes U want more than a summary. To get the full details about any topic for Amazon.com, click on the button for that topic. For example, let's check out how much Amazon.com charges for shipping - just click the Shipping button. This will take U to a new page in the WhenUShop tool, where U will find everything U need to know about Amazon.com's shipping rates and policies.

When you're done reading the shipping information, use the WhenUShop Back button to get back to the main page of the toolbar. It's the button at the very top of the WhenUShop tool with the blue arrow pointing to the left, marked "Bk". Click it.

U should now be back at the main phone pad page. For practice, try clicking some of the other buttons. Remember to click the "Bk" back button to get back to the main WhenUShop page.

Select button topics:

Contact: gives U the merchant's e-mail address, phone number and customer service hours.

Sales Tax: shows the states where sales tax is charged, and the percentage. U can customize this feature to your desired state by clicking the Sales Tax button, then clicking the customize link and selecting your state.

Gift Services: describes gift certificate and gift-wrapping options on the site.

Returns: explains the site's return policy, how to make a return, and who pays return shipping.

Privacy & Security: summarizes the site's privacy and security policies. It tells U whether or not a site will share your personal information with others, and gives U a phone number to call if U would rather complete your purchase by phone if the site allows.

Site Ratings: tells U how a site fares on Customer Service and On-time Delivery, "thumbs up" or "thumbs down."

Coupons

If U have never used an online coupon before, welcome to a world of unbelievable savings! Click on the "Coupons!" button on the main WhenUShop page and you'll see a list of coupons U can use at the shopping site you're visiting.

Some online coupons use special codes, which you'll find listed on the WhenUShop Coupons page. These codes usually consist of letters or numbers, like MVXCSD or HOLIDAY2.

It's very easy to use a coupon code. U just do your shopping as usual, then when U get to the checkout page, there will be a space where U can enter the coupon code. U should see the price of your items automatically adjusted to reflect your discount.

Make sure that U read the terms and conditions of the coupon code before using it or the shopping site will reject the coupon. For example, if the coupon says $20 off a $100 purchase and your purchase is only $90, the coupon will be rejected. Sometimes the coupon applies only to select items so please read the code carefully.

A second type of online coupon uses a clickable link instead of a code. To use a clickable coupon, go to the shopping site first (if you're looking at the coupon in the WhenUShop toolbar, U may already be there!), then click on the coupon link. The discount will automatically be applied to your order when U check out. U should know that in some cases, U won't see the discount until U have partially or even fully completed your order.

Rebates & Rewards

Another great way to save money online is to become a member of a rebate or reward program. WhenUShop tells U whether the shopping site U are visiting is an affiliate of your favorite rebate or reward program and gives the details of the special offer. To get the offer, U usually have to go to your program site to log in, then do your shopping through the program site. Although this requires an extra step, rebates of up to 15-20%, make it worth the extra effort.

To join a rebate or reward program, just go to their Web site and register - it's free and takes just a few minutes. Two of the most popular programs are www.Ebates.com for rebates, and www.mypoints.com for rewards.

Compare Prices and Shop By Product

These two buttons are especially helpful when you're shopping for a specific item, but don't care what site U shop at.

The Compare Prices button connects U to a list of price comparison sites that use special price bots to compare prices for specific products across multiple shopping sites on the Web. Click on a link if U want to go to the WhenUShop-recommended price comparison site for that product category.

Price comparison sites all work in a similar way. U enter a product name into a text box and press a button. The price bot searches the Web and provides a listing of the best prices it found and where.

The "Shop By Product" button works in a similar way to the "Compare Prices" button, helping U find a specific product for a great price. The difference is that while the "Compare Prices" button focuses on the product categories that are sold at the site U happen to be at, the "Shop By Product" button gives U all product categories on the Internet.

Site Deals

The Site Deals button alerts U to special deals that are negotiated on your behalf by credit card companies or affinity groups like AAA, AARP or Student Advantage. If you're a member of one of these groups, you've probably seen the flyers about these discounts enclosed in your monthly statement - but how often did U remember them when U were actually shopping online? With WhenUShop, you'll always be in the know, so you'll get the savings U deserve!

"Find a site that sells…" search engine.

The "Find a Site" box is located just below the Site Info phone pad. "Find a Site" allows U to search the WhenUShop database to find shopping sites that sell a certain type of merchandise, that offer free shipping or coupons, and that don't charge sales tax in your state.

Let's try it. First, select the item category using the drop down menu that says "Find a site that sells...". Select Books. Then check the Free Shipping and Coupons boxes. Click the "No tax in" checkbox and then select a state from the drop down menu. Let's select NY for New York. When you're done, click GO.

Now U see a list of sites with free shipping, coupons and no taxes in New York. If U click on any of the stores listed, U will immediately be taken to the site U selected, and the information in WhenUShop will change to reflect the new site U are visiting.

Compare Sites Using WhenUShop

One of the most powerful ways to use WhenUShop is to compare different sites. Which site will charge U sales tax? Which has the cheapest shipping options? Are there coupons or other special deals available? With WhenUShop, all this information is accessible without having to go back and forth between the sites, hunting down the information and waiting for page after page to load.

Look near the top of the WhenUShop tool, under the back button, and you'll see two drop down menus, marked "Category" and "Sites covered by WhenU". By using these two menus, U can look at the WhenUShop information for different sites without navigating to them in your main browser.

For example, if you're at BarnesandNoble.com and want to see if Amazon has any coupons or deals U might be able to use, select "Books" from the Category menu, and then select Amazon. Instantly you'll see the main WhenUShop page for Amazon, where U can check the summary info or click a button to get to the detailed topic pages - but your main browser will still be showing BarnesandNoble.com. If U decide that U do want to visit Amazon.com, click on the blue underlined site name near the top of the toolbar (it's a link to the site) and immediately your main browser will go to Amazon.com.

Killer Deals

This is what we like to call the section of the tool below the "Find a Site" box. Our team of shopping experts scours the Web to find unbelievable deals for the hot items of the moment, then shares them with U. One hint: if U see a deal you're interested in, pounce on it, because the killer deal changes every time U visit a new site!

Because of the infinite number of computer configurations, in rare instances WhenUShop may not start working immediately. If this happens, please close and restart your browser or AOL, then surf to a covered site, such as www.amazon.com. If the WhenUShop toolbar still does not appear, please reboot your computer. Once U reboot and surf to a covered site, WhenUShop should appear. If it does not, please e-mail techsupport@whenu.com.

Your browser should not normally crash when U install WhenUShop. However, every computer is different and sometimes a machine might be in an unstable situation that can lead to a crash when installing software. If this happens, look at the bottom right corner of your screen for WhenUShop's burgundy and gold U icon. If it is there, then WhenUShop appears to be installed properly. Close and reopen your browser or AOL and go to a major retail shopping site, such as www.amazon.com, to see if WhenUShop is working. If nothing happens, try rebooting your computer, restarting your browser or AOL, and surfing to a covered site. If that does not work, e-mail techsupport@whenu.com.

Then restart WhenUShop by clicking on the Windows Start button (usually at the bottom left of the screen). Select "Programs", then WhenU, then WhenUShop. What is the SaveNow Pop-up Ad Feature?

U have probably noticed some useful pop-up advertisements that have appeared on your screen while surfing the Internet or visiting a search engine. When U installed the WhenUShop software, the SaveNow module was also installed on your computer.

SaveNow is a program that brings U relevant offers and tells U about great deals and similar sites when U surf the Web. There are a vast number of great offers and services available throughout the Internet. In addition, we negotiate a number of exclusive offers to maximize value for our users. SaveNow's goal is to show users information about these offers and services - right at the moment when they need it. For example, if U went to a search engine and typed in "long distance", U might get an offer for SmartPrice - a site that we found to be the best for comparing long distance plans. If U go to a job search site, we might show U an offer for Hotjobs - which right now is offering great value to users that post resumes at their site. If U go to Disney.com, U might see an offer for a 15% off coupon that will save U money when U shop there. We show these offers infrequently so as not to be intrusive.

At that time, U accepted a SaveNow license agreement as part of the download process U completed. Do I need to be worried about my privacy?

SaveNow protects your privacy and does not require personally-identifiable information. Our privacy policy is always displayed when users install SaveNow. Below is an excerpt from the SaveNow privacy policy:

"SaveNow offers you relevant contextual information as you surf the Web and by downloading SaveNow you give permission to SaveNow to display relevant contextual information. In order to provide SaveNow users with such information, SaveNow delivers content based on the URL visited by the user. SaveNow protects users' privacy by determining on the client side whether or not to retrieve information from WhenU.com servers. Client-server communication takes place only on an as-needed basis, and SaveNow does NOT transmit a full history of URLS visited by the user to the WhenU.com servers. WhenU.com does NOT assemble personally-identifiable profiles of SaveNow users and personally identifiable information is not required in order to use the SaveNow software."
